Byfield National Park Camping- Off the Grid

Byfield National park is about 70km north east of Rockhampton on the Capricorn Coast. Byfield National Park camping offers a number of campsites around the park and in the adjacent state forest. Bookings through the Queensland National Park Service is the norm these days. In the NP itself it is pretty much 4wd territory so dont expect to bring in the caravan but offroad trailers are no problem. As always in NPs bring your own firewood. Checkout the fishing here, looks great get a muddie and a barra for me.

If you are after a great place to go remote style camping with family or a group of friends then consider this location. Byfield National Park has a variety of different attributes to enjoy such as rugged mountains to conquer  4WD tracks, rainforests, swimming, kayaking . It also has an abundance of wildlife to observe.

Within the park you can camp at any one of the four main areas.

Upper Stony camping area is having approximately between 4-7 camp sites. Suitable for caravans or motorhomes. Features freshwater streams for swimming in, public toilets, disables access, bird watching, unpowered sites, tap water and fishing.

Water Park Creek camping area is the place to be for bird watching enthusiast. This spot is suited to caravan, campervans, tents and camper trailers. Unpowered sites, no pets allowed. Great for kayaking and fishing, just be mindful of the estuarine crocodiles so swimming is discouraged.

Red Rock camping area close to the main road is great for a quick over night stay. Perfect for those who want to escape the rat race, have a fire and take the dog for an adventure (as long as they are on a lead). Amenities supplied, tap water (treat before you drink), no fires allowed. Unpowered camp sites for caravan, campervans, tents and camper trailers Fishing is possible but again swimming is discouraged.

Five Rocks camping area is the place for the 4WD enthusiast. Secluded access from the beach means that it is suitable for those who want to remove themselves from society. With only a max of 4 sites means that you can just sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet. Fires are permitted as long as you are aware of the enforced fire band status.  Amenities and showers available
