Noosa National Park Rock Pools

Noosa National Park Rock Pools

Great spot for backpackers and the likes , Noosa can accommodates for families and people travelling abroad. Plenty of beach for all to share, with the added bonus of the Fairy Rock Pools thrown in .

While there are a range of Rock Pools at the Noosa National Park the Fairy Pools are highlighted as popular destination for those willing to make the trek out to the headlands.

Getting to the Noosa National Park Rock Pools

North of Sunshine Beach, between it and the Noosa River is a heavily vegetated and rocky headland. Getting a park there on a weekend during summer is almost impossible. Surfers rolling in from 5am and beach goers following shortly after. That said if you want a park anywhere go early.

To get to the Fairy Pools or other Noosa Rock Pools you need only follow the beach until you hit the coast walk along the National Park. It doesn’t matter which side you attack this from you can find paths taking all along the coast.

If you are walking up the eastern beach you may run into a few white pointers. That is, of the old Paul Hogan variety. I’d avoid the bottom third of the beach if you are the type likely to get offended by the odd nudist.

Further Information

For more information about Noosa National Park visit the Department of Environments Website. Among other things it contains a selection of maps. These show more information about the walking paths, distance and duration.

If you are heading north in a 4wd then you might consider heading up Noosa North Shore alternate route to Fraser Island. There are a couple of camp grounds along the way where you can spend a few nights and its an easy drive along the beach.

4wd enthusiasts who need a laugh

When you get up there be sure to spend some time at Inskip Point watching people get bogged in the soft sand. Check this out, its a good crack.
