D’Aguilar National Park
D’Aguilar National Park is probably one of the most accessible national parks in South East Queensland and and is a great place for a swim, camp, easy 4wd or just a wander around the bush.
D’Aguilar National Park is a gem in South East Queensland and a great weekend get away for Brisbanites. Most of the accessible parts of the park is open woodlands, however, along the creeks are lush sub-tropical rain forest. There are plenty of walking trails to explore and more than enough top locations for a BBQ and to let the kids run wild.
Where is D’Aguilar National Park?
Located 15 minutes drive west of Brisbane you enter into the southern part of the park. Formally known as Brisbane Forest Park, this region encapsulates Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious. Access to the park can be achieved via the Gap or through Samford, the latter provides a more scenic drive and the opportunity to stop for a coffee and meat pie.
The Norther section of D’Aguilar National Park is home to some relatively easy, but interesting enough 4wd tracks, a few nice swimming holes and a tidy little camp ground with amenities. On last check it took us around an hour and a half to get from Brisbane to the main camp ground, passing through Daybora en-route.
