Rockhampton Beef Capital of Australia

Rockhampton Beef Capital of Australia is known historically as the “The city of the Three S’s” Sin, Sweat and Sorrow. With a pub in every corner it isn’t hard to imagine why it ended up being known as such:)

Rockhampton is a sub-tropical climate zone and is located on the Tropic of Capricorn in Central Queensland.

There are a few must see locations in and around this sunny city. Rockhampton Beef Capital of Australia has a beautiful Botanic Gardens that was established in 1873 and was maintained and expanded until 1930. The Botanic Gardens were added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 23rd July 1999.

The Rockhampton Zoo located inside the Botanic Gardens. There are no fees for entry. The Zoo operates every day from 8am to 4.30pm (with the exception of Christmas day)

This is a great place to explore for families. Plenty of beautiful places to BBQ along the Fitzroy River. Apart from being know for its beef, Rockhampton is also famous for its fishing. You can expect to catch Barramundi and King Threadfin right off the banks of the Fitzroy River.
